As the Argentina squad touched down in Lima, Peru fans chanted Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo's name when spotting Messi inside the airport terminal.
Peruvian media are determined to unsettle Messi and have urged the public to chant 'Cristiano, Cristiano' whenever they see the player ahead of their big World Cup qualifier.
